YMKG Rules
  • GASPARILLA wristbands are mandatory and must be worn by all KOB participants, including Safety/Security.
  • No cardboard bead boxes or plastic bags allowed in staging or along the parade route. Get your beads ready before you arrive in staging.
  • DO NOT THROW ANY BEADS UNTIL WE PASS BAY TO BAY BLVD.
  • Do not throw or give beads to police officers, parade marshals or other people within the fenced in parade route at any time.
  • None of these items are allowed in or near the parade route: Styrofoam, glass, confetti, balloons, paper material/flyers etc., fireworks, firearms, cap guns, fake guns, metal swords and no confetti pop cannons.
  • The official color of Gasparilla is Green Please make sure to recycle and do not throw ANYTHING into the bay.
  • NO members can have cans or glass containers on the float or anywhere in the parade. Opaque cups only.
  • NO beads at the water or to boaters.  Zero Tolerance, which could lead to a fine by City of Tampa.
  • Please do not solicit or encourage parade spectators to do anything inappropriate. No stamping, tattooing, or marking of spectators or participants.
KOB Rules
  • Do not pile beads on the back of the float, or in the walkways painted black. Beads MUST have your name on them! Take your beads out of the box at home and use a disposable bag.
  • As always, no guests are allowed at the parade when the float moves. Krewe of Brigadoon members only.
  • Since the krewe is a lot smaller now, we will allow other krewes on the float during staging only. Bathrooms on the float are for KOB members, security, and volunteers ONLY. If they need to go to the bathroom, there are porta potties.
  • Do not stand in front of the stairs, and hallway. These are a very busy access point.
  • Please be respectful of the hard work members have put into the float and to pick up after yourself.

NO SMOKING ON THE FLOAT!

  • NEVER pick up beads from the street during the parade and watch your step.
  • Do not leave anything on the float, including personal items. Do not bring anything expensive or important to the float. Keep your wallet, ID, money, purse, sunglasses, keys, cameras etc. on you at all times.
  • Walking along the side, front and behind our float is allowed. Stay 2-3 feet away from the sides at all times. Safety-Security will be enforcing. Do NOT go anywhere near the tow vehicle and hitch area at all times.
  • Zero Tolerance of handing anything over to anyone during the parade (or when the float is in motion, over the side of the float. You want something you go to the back and walk on to grab what you need.
  •  If you are falling down intoxicated and Security feels you are a safety risk. You will be required to be on the float for the rest of the parade.  Tougher rules on intoxicated members, by putting them on the float (Drunk Tank) if they are not willing to listen or can not walk for their own safety. Security Officers will make that judgement call and will be enforced.
  • Stick together – Do not walk more than 40 feet behind the float. Bunch together. If you can’t hear the float stereo, you are too far away. (This is very important). YMKG Security will be watching.
  • Members who continue to walk more than 40 feet behind our float will be put on the float.
  • We will have Parade Marshals/Monitors on the float to help anyone who needs anything. Depending on attendance, not everyone will be able to ride on the float. Please allow spaces for people who need them.

Route/Disbanding

Parade Route

The official parade end is on Ashley and Cass Street.  After passing the official end, continue rolling as directed by TPD.  Those helping with the float breakdown or planning to get on a bus, please stay on the float over the Cass street bridge. There are ONLY TWO Stopping points for members to get off the float.  1) (short stop or a slow pause), Ashley and Cass at the corner before the float goes across the bridge.  2) .

Disbanding

There are ONLY TWO Stopping points for members to get off the float.
1.) Get off floats at Curtis Hixon Park if you are not helping with breaking down, If you are in Clan 3 stay on to start breaking down everything.

2.) A short stop or a slow pause, Ashley and Cass at the corner before the float goes across the bridge.  Parade ends at Ashley Street and Cass Street. Follow all TPD directions. Once the float turns, it will move, so stay on until N. Blvd for a complete stop.

3.) N. Blvd - Past Tampa Prep and up to Blake.

Costume

  • All members must follow full costume as directed in the costume guidelines.
  • Everyone must be wearing comfortable black or brown shoes/boots.
  • Any further costume questions, reach out to your chieftain

Beads

  • Our Krewe beads are for trading and giving out to the crowd if you like. Walking up and down the staging area before the parade is great fun and lots of other Krewes will want to trade "Krewe” beads with you.
  • Buy cheap "Throw” beads, at least one big cardboard box of them (sometimes called a case and usually has 60 dozen small 33” bead strands in one box), for the Day Parade. Two boxes may be better though this will be hard to carry to the float.
  • Put beads in disposable plastic bags. No suitcases, no boxes or coolers allowed. If you do not put your name on your beads someone may accidentally throw them for you or move them to another location.
  • Please put bead bags in the storage shelves, or in the top village or up in the castle. Do not block any walkways with beads.
